The Ministry of the Economy and Innovation announces a new call for applications for Lithuanian organisations abroad to apply for funding for activities aimed at attracting investment and talent to Lithuania, expanding our country's export markets and increasing inbound tourism.
"Lithuanians abroad and the organisations operating there make an important contribution to promoting the Lithuanian name. Lithuanians abroad introduce potential investors to the opportunities that Lithuania offers, provide export advice to our companies, and act as intermediaries in finding contacts. Therefore, we invite you to apply for funding to implement new projects and contribute to Lithuania's growth," said Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation.
Last year, 5 Lithuanian diaspora organisations participated in the competition and implemented economic diplomacy projects. EIMIN funded an event to present Lithuania's investment environment to Dutch business leaders, an event to present Lithuania's financial technology ecosystem and economic potential to representatives of UK companies and investors, and a project on digitalisation in life sciences with international partners. With funding from the Ministry, a networking evening was organised at the Smart City Expo World Congress and the Lithuanian Professional Clubs Convention in Riga.
"We already have a lot of experience in using Lithuanians working in foreign companies to establish contacts that are extremely beneficial for Lithuanian companies and institutions, and to open up new partnerships and export opportunities for Lithuanian companies. We have excellent examples of diaspora professionals with international experience coming to establish, manage or work in Lithuanian start-ups. More than a third of Lithuanians living abroad contribute to the growth of inbound tourism. We want to continue and expand this cooperation," says Neringa Morozaitė-Rasmussen, Deputy Minister of the Economy and Innovation.
Lithuanian non-profit organisations registered abroad are invited to apply for funding. They can receive support for the organisation of events and the implementation of related activities in the field of economic diplomacy (attracting talent, attracting foreign investment, promoting exports and promoting inbound tourism). Priority will be given to projects in priority sectors: information and communication technologies, life sciences, engineering.
Funding is available for projects to be implemented by 10 December this year. Applications will be accepted until the budget available for the projects is exhausted. The maximum amount per project is €10,000 and the total amount for the call is €50,000.
